Portrait Session with Ahmad and Shahid
When I moved to Leicester for University Ahmad and Shahid became part of my regular uni group, as Ahmad had graduated the Summer before I started at DMU and Shahid was still in college. As soon as they found out I was a photographer they begged me for a photoshoot, I said yeah definitely, but my first 2 years of flew by and we never got round to it; but as my third year was coming to a close I thought I had to get these guys into the studio as a way of thanking them for everything they'd done for me over the past years.

Fashion Photo Session with Siobhan
This is a diptych from a fashion photo session I worked on last year during my studies at university,
I was collaborating with a make up artist to produce a body of work that would be used in marketing their products and services and could use in my portfolio too!
I asked my friend, Siobhan to be the model, the make up artist and I decided we wanted more of an editorial feel to the pictures we were producing for this series of images and decided to take this photo session out into the open.
I had done photo sessions in the open before and had a few locations in mind for the shoot, I am a big fan of using flash in my photography as I feel a bit of flash can make an image pop from being boring or dull to full of life.
I decided to go for a 2 light set up using external flashes either side of the model, using one as a key light and the other as a fill in light.
I had recently added a new lens to my arsenal, the 70-200mm f4 and decided to take it out for a spin, I love the images I captured with this lens and in this shoot!

The De Montfort University Alzheimer's Fundraiser Ball 2013
I was asked by my good friend Anum to photograph an event De Montfort University was holding to help fundraise for the Alzheimer's Society, the event dubbed the Alzheimer's Christmas Ball was held just before the end of term. The venue was the Graduate Bar on Campus which the team organising the event had decorated with tinsel and streamers and even a Christmas tree!
The event was organised by the Biomedical Students and was marketed at all students attending De Montfort University.
I was excited about photographing the Christmas Ball, having photographed previous De Montfort University Balls I had my expectations about the event, and this only raised the level of excitement I was feeling. As it was a ball and thinking everyone would be dressed smartly I decided to suit up.
When I arrived for the event I was amazed to see how well the team had organised the event and how well the bar was decorated, I knew it would be minimalistic as the aim of the event was to raise awareness of the degenerative and incurable brain disease and also to raise money for sufferers of the disease.
Nishat and Junaid's and Enul and Asad's Joint Wedding (Part 2)
On the day of the wedding The Sun was shining against a bright blue sky with hardly a cloud in the sky! As we saw the sign for Bayley House I was stunned to see just how picturesque it was; there was a Sea of trees parted by an endlessly long drive way that felt it could go on and on!
Eventually we arrived at some big black gates which opened up to a massive space and at the end of the space was Bayley House!

Nishat and Junaid's and Enul and Asad's Joint Wedding (Part 1)
As I mentioned in a previous post, I was asked to photograph my friend Rahim's wedding 2 years ago, he loved the pictures so much he asked me to photograph his sisters -in-law joint wedding!
I was very excited as I boarded the train, travelling to Datchett the day before so I could get an early start for the wedding. I was running over shot lists in my head, anticipating what the Hall would look like, how the lighting would be and most importantly how the day would go!
On the morning of the wedding I arrived early to start photographing the hall and the little details, from then on it was game time! First the guests arrived, then then grooms, one on a white horse, the other in a white car, everyone was in the celebration mood and anticipated both the brides arrivals. When they showed up everyone was so happy, you could see everyone was so glad to be a part of the festivities!
The day was an emotional ride for all, with the climax at the cake cutting, then it was time for the brides to leave with their new families. All I can say is there was not a dry eye in the place, everyone had a little cry with the brides as they wished them all the best in the new life they were beginning.

Self Portraits
A David Hockney inspired self portrait!
I was looking over my old Research and Development books and came across a series of images by David Hockney, I remember doing a project incorporating the technique into my work but I hadn't tried one in ages so I decided to try one. I feel it's worked out pretty well, but I wanna try it again using more images.

Do the best you can...
Do the best you can with the equipment you have!
I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though you don't have the best equipment that shouldn't stop you from producing work!
Here are a selection of the images we produced yesterday:

Straight out of the camera!
So the shoot didn't go exactly how I expected it would...
I was told I'd have a studio with white walls and lights etc, turns out the studio was just a classroom with curtains covering the walls and the lights they'd got were red heads! so not great for photography.
Luckily I had brought 3 flashguns with me so we found a white wall and set up!

My sister just called me needing a photographer
My sister contacted me earlier today saying they've got a shoot planned for a magazine article but the photographer cancelled on them, so being a good big brother I packed my camera bag, packed my lighting and hopped on the first train to London!
I've got to be at the shoot for 9:30 in the morning to help her get all the equipment and set up the studio, it's gonna be an interesting photoshoot with many different looks (I've been told) and I can't wait to get back into the studio, it's been almost a year since my last studio shoot at Uni! where has the time gone?!
Anyway I better get to sleep as I've got an early start but stay tunes for the pictures which should be posted next week!! I'm still editing the pictures from the photoshoot I did for her and her team last week! what are big brothers for?
